short-form videos are short videos (duh! lol - usually not lasting more than a few seconds or a few minutes) designed specifically for social media platforms in order to capture the audience’s attention and deliver quick concise content.

short-form videos have been around for quite some time but have more recently surged in popularity (especially on social media platforms like instagram, tiktok and snapchat) for a number of different reasons including:

they’re easily shareable as users are more likely to share bite-sized content with their networks, increasing the likelihood of the content to go viral.

short-form videos have higher engagement and interaction rates as users viewing them are more likely to watch the entire video, comment and/or like and share the post increasing the exposure.

they’re cost-effective to produce when compared with long-form video content.

videos often include trending audio and songs that are also searchable and help with the discoverability of the video.

and let’s not forget that they’re easily adaptable to emerging trends.


in-house tip: not all of your content needs to be short-form video, but adding video content into your social strategy is a great way to increase your brand’s exposure and explore new creative trends.
