keyboard shortcuts are a great way to enhance your efficiency and experience when using a computer. here are some commonly used shortcuts (that work across most platforms) that many of us know, and a few you might not!

general shortcuts:

  • ctrl + c: copy

  • ctrl + v: paste

  • ctrl + x: cut

  • ctrl + z: undo

  • ctrl + y: redo

  • ctrl + a: select all

  • ctrl + s: save

  • ctrl + p: print

  • ctrl + f: find

  • ctrl + n: new(file or window)

navigation shortcuts:

  • alt + tab: switch between open applications

  • ctrl + tab: switch between tabs in program (like your web browsers)

  • alt + f4: closes the current window

  • ctrl + w: close the current tab or document

  • ctrl + shift + t: reopen the last closed tab

  • ctrl + t: open a new tab

  • ctrl + +(plus key): zoom in

  • ctrl + -(minus key): zoom out

  • ctrl + 0: reset zoom to default

text editing shortcuts:

  • ctrl + b: bold

  • ctrl + i: italic
